What Can You Do?

Mosquitos can breed in the smallest amount of standing water. It is important to clean out things like pet bowls, bird baths, kids pools and stock troughs at least every 2-3 days and remove any other sources of standing water such as old tyres or buckets collecting water in the yard.

Another effective measure of keeping mosquito numbers down is by removing harbourages by keeping grass cut short and pruning of shrubs, bushes trees.

There are also a number of DIY options to help deter mosquitos such as fans, traps, burning mosquito coils and candles, bug zappers. All of these DIY options do offer some relief, however, rely on mosquitos coming into or close to your building.
